#21 new task

test and compare PDF form support

Description

This consists of installing many pdf viewers in Linux,
such as evince, okular, bepdf, etc, and see how they compare in terms of form editing. Unless evince works flawlessly, this will reveal a solution.

Write about and compare at least the following (all compiled from version control):

  • evince
  • okular
  • bepdf
  • libraries for pdf support: GNU PDF, etc. (why does GNU PDF exist?)

Perhaps write a short article in freshmeat.net.

Determine which software to implement a very good form-filling, and which software can provide useful code to copy from.

I talked to evince devs in ##evince irc channel, they confirmed that, from all our ideas on the wiki, pdf form filling is absolute *top* priority. they are excited to hear we're working on it. they even told me to go PMF because this is urgent :-)
